Children’s Liturgy of the Word: Open to preschool children 4-8 years. Meets at 9:30 AM Sunday mornings during the school year. Any adult parish member (age 16 and older) may teach a class or help coordinate our program. Younger members (age 10-15) help out as classroom aides.
Liturgy Committee: Prepares, coordinates and facilitates liturgical functions, prayer services, and devotions. All adult parishioners are welcome. Committee meets monthly September through May.
Family Liturgy Committee: Prepares and facilitates special liturgies at various Masses. These liturgies include many age groups and are geared to parishioners with children. Committee meets as needed. September through May.
Communion Minister: Distributes Holy Communion at weekend liturgies as scheduled on a rotating basis throughout the year. All confirmed parishioners over 18 years old welcome.
Lector: Proclaims the scripture readings at weekend liturgies as scheduled on a rotating basis throughout the year. All confirmed parishioners over 18 years old welcome.
Commentator (When Adult Choir leads the music): Reads opening announcements and invites congregation to join in singing.
Server: Assists presider at the altar during Mass as scheduled. Training is provided. All parishioners fifth grade and older are eligible.
Mass Servers for Funerals: Men or women willing to be called on short notice to assist at Funeral liturgies.
Hospitality Minister/Usher:
Assist in greeting at Masses and serve the assembly at Mass (i.e. seating, collection). Scheduled on a monthly rotating basis. All men, women and family members welcome.
Hospitality Minister/Usher Sub:
Men and women willing to usher when called if available.
Altar Preparers/Greeters: Ministry of welcoming parishioners 20 minutes before Mass upon entering the church and prepare the altar with corporal and candles for Liturgy of the Eucharist. Scheduled on a rotating basis. All parishioners welcome.
Giftbearers/Greeters: Ministry of welcoming parishioners 20 minutes before Mass upon entering the church and carry the bread and wine to the presider. Scheduled on a rotating basis. All parishioners welcome.
Babysitting during 9:30 am Sunday Mass: Adults and dependable Middle and High School students are needed for babysitting. Maximum of once per month, September through May. (Training required.)
Sacristans: Assist in cleaning the sacristy, dusting church body and Mooring House Chapel, tidying pews, changing missalettes, sewing and repairing altar items, launder small church linens server albs, and seasonal fabrics. Scheduled on a rotating basis. All adult parishioners welcome.
Church Decorators: Help decorate church for special feasts and seasons. Opportunities are available in the areas of bulletin board displays, altar banner and other banner artwork, plant care and arranging. All parishioners good at art, sewing or constructing displays would be an asset.
Design Core Committee: Envisions desired worship environment, prioritizes stages of, and facilitates decorating with help of volunteers. Maintains environment through season and facilitates take down and storage of seasonal elements.
Artwork: Create seasonal banners/linens and bulletin board displays.
Cantor/Songleader: Leads the singing for assembly at weekend liturgies. Should be welcoming and able to encourage assembly to sing. Scheduled on a rotating basis.
Adult Choir: Sings at the 11 AM Mass and special liturgies from September through May. Practice Wednesday evenings at 7 PM in church. Parishioners interested in singing welcome.
Emmanuel Choir: Sings at 9:30 AM Mass weekly. Practice Thursday evenings in church. Parishioners with singing or instrumental talents welcome.
Youth Choir: Youth ages 10-16 with an interest in singing or playing a musical instrument are welcome. Goal is to sing at 1 weekend Mass per month.
Resurrection Choir: Provides music for funeral Masses. Parishioners with singing abilities welcome.
Handbell Choir: Provides handbell music at various liturgies throughout the year. Practice Monday evenings at 6:30 PM in church September through May. Parishioners with ability to read music, good arm mobility and rhythmic sense are welcome.
Instrumentalist: Skilled musicians interested in playing for Masses (flute, oboe, guitar, organ, piano, strings, or other instruments).
