SATURDAY OF THE TWENTY-THIRD WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME
In 2019, the Black actor, Denzel Washington, received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Film Institute. The young Black actor, Chadwick Boseman, gave this tribute to his mentor:
As you know Chadwick lost his four-year battle with colon cancer on August 28 at the age of 43. This incredible young man, unbeknownst to all of us, struggled through chemotherapy and radiation, while playing the iconic Black trailblazers: Jackie Robinson, Thurgood Marshall, and James Brown. And, of course, our children throughout the world, and adults, too, remember him as King T’Challa, the Black Panther.
This young man has touched the hearts of many people with his graceful presence. May the Lord welcome him home to paradise and comfort his grieving family and adoring fans!
