THE FEAST OF SAINT LAWRENCE, DEACON AND MARTYR

During these trying times, it is good not to lose a sense of humor. The Holy Deacon, Lawrence, as he was being burned alive in Rome on a gridiron, requested that he be turned over by the Roman soldiers as he was “done on this side.” On a serious note, Saint Lawrence was commanded to surrender the treasures of the Church to the Roman Emperor in the first century. He appeared with the poor people of the Church, announcing that they were the Church’s precious treasures.

Saint Lawrence, Holy Deacon, beg Jesus to help us to see the Lord in the people around us, especially those who are suffering or struggling.
